The 2023 parade was held Saturday, March 11th at 2pm. It was a soggy day, but you can have rainbows without a little rain and it certainly didn’t quash the celebration. The parade was hosted by the Brookside Business Association and Community Improvement District and drew just over 100 participants and thousands of spectators from around the metro. There were many new entries and lots of old favorites including including drill teams, Irish dancers, antique cars, musicians, bagpipers, dogs, balloon leprechauns, rainbow floats, and so many more. We hope to see everyone again March 16, 2024!
Congrats again to our 2023 parade winners!
Congratulations to our 2023 parade winners. With so many outstanding entries it was a tough choice as always.

Thank you to 2023 Parade Grand Marshall Lindsay Shively
The 2023 parade was led by KSHB 41 news anchor and Brookside resident Lindsay Shively! As a morning TV anchor/reporter, Murrow and Emmy award winner, Lindsay's career has sent her across the country and around the world! In 2014, she traveled to Afghanistan where she embedded with Missouri National Guard soldiers to tell the story of the end of America's longest war.
Here at home, she's traveled to cover everything from F-5 tornadoes and hurricanes to high-profile court cases and March Madness. She covered a KU Championship on the road but she's a die-hard Mizzou Tigers, Royals and Chiefs fan! Lindsay's no stranger to parades and was instrumental in covering the Chief’s Super Bowl parade again this year!
Lindsay is also mom, wife, and a KC native living in Brookside. An avid Brookside supporter, you may have seen her at the Brookside Art Annual, local restaurants, tree lightings or just enjoying some recreational shopping. She was excited to lead the 2023 parade and share the experience with her family.
Thanks again to Brookside's 2023 honorary Ms. Irish, Sandra Neumann, owner Brookside Gallery and Framing
Each year the Brookside Business Association selects a business owner or other contributor to the Brookside Shops to serve as the honorary Mr. and/or Mrs. Irish for the Brookside St. Patrick's Day Warm-Up Parade. The 2023 honoree was Sandra Neumann, Owner, Brookside Gallery and Framing. Sandra has owned and operated the gallery for 20 years. She began as an employee in 2003 and then purchased the business in 2004. “The best part of the business is the people. It’s like a second family. I meet so many great people and love learning about their artwork and the stories behind it and why they’re having it framed. I learn a lot about my customers and Kansas City through artwork I see and the histories shared.” Beyond that she loves being part of the Brookside Shops which she describes as a sanctuary from the big city. “I love the friendliness, and family atmosphere. It’s a personal experience, you’re not just a number. You can actually carry on a conversation in the store. It’s just so comfortable.” Learn more about Sandra and Brookside Gallery and Framing here
